history

When my mom purchased Cazenovia Fabrics in 2006 it was her dream come true, but she didn’t realize it would play a part in my dream... And neither did I.

I followed her Mom in and out fabric stores since I was a little girl, and listened as she explained each purchase: “The woman who dies with the most fabric wins!”

When working a summer job at Cazenovia Fabrics I surprisingly found inspiration in my surroundings. I was surrounded by the raw materials of someone else’s project. The fabric wasn’t fabric anymore. It became just color and design to me.

When I returned to the Rochester Institute of technology for my last year, I made pattern design a priority. It was difficult getting started. With a self-professed limited knowledge, I made four patterns, “Grandmother’s China Remnants,” “Cracked Glaze,” “Pish Posh Nick Notch,” and “Glued together,” collectively known as “Broken Dishes.”

Having spent my whole life making things, I take comfort in the fact that my patterns for fabric might become the raw material for someone else’s project.
